8th-Day Faith Community

Time:
Sunday, May 11, 2008 - 10:15am - Sunday, May 11, 2008 - 12:00pm

Elizabeth O'Connor and Bill Price started Eighth Day Faith Community whose idea was that we pick up the creative work of God on the 8th Day of Creation and become co-creators with God to realize a world of justice and peace inwardly and outwardly. Eighth Day's first mission was as a sanctuary church to many fleeing persecution in Central America. Members then and now share their housing and resources with those who come to our country seeking political asylum. Consequently, this community is organically diverse including community members from Guatemala, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and the U.S. Worship includes folk style music from many Christian traditions. Childcare and Sunday school is provided with the first Sunday of each month dedicated to a children's teaching. Each third Sunday is followed by a potluck and the youth group meets on 1st and 3rd Sundays.

Fridays during Lent: Art and Faith, led by Meade Jones Hanna of the Potter's House.

Fridays after Lent: The Left Hand of God, led by Bettina Del Sesto and the National Spiritual Progressives.
